Πετρουλάκης, & συν. - Ρήξή κύστήσ ωοθήκήσ: ή σύμβολή τήσ ύΠολογιστικήσ τομογΡαφιασ στήν αμεσή διαγνωσή 49 Purpose: To evaluate the role of computed tomog raphy in the diagnosis of ruptured ovarian cyst and demonstrate the imaging findings. ovarian torsion and rupture of ovarian cyst preoperatively diagnosed as benign: a retrospective study. J Obstet Gynaecol Res. 2013 Jan;39(1):326-9. Materials and methods: We report the cases of six women who presented to the emergency depart ment of our hospital with acute abdominal pain. All patients underwent CT scan. Results: CT scan revealed abnormal cystic forma tions in the right adnexal region in four patients and in the left adnexal region in two patients. The presence of a cyst with impaired structure in the adnexal region was considered to be the principle imaging finding for the diagnosis of ruptured ovarian cyst. Specifically, the distortion of the cystic structure was present either as an interruption of the cyst wall, or as intracystic hemorrhage, or as a focal projection mimicking a diverticulum. In five out of six cases an hemoperitoneum was depicted. Conclusion: CT scan contributes to the differential diagnosis of acute abdominal pain in patients with ruptured ovarian cyst and to the preoperative evalu ation where surgery is indicated
